    APRIL 8, 2013 NEWSLETTER
Mortgage rates remain at extremely low levels, though with the economy starting to show more signs of life, it is almost certain that they will begin increasing in the near future. The window for taking advantage of these historic lows is small.
Even though this window is small, you still have the opportunity to possibly lower your mortgage rate significantly if you have not refinanced in recent years. If you already refinanced when the rates first fell, you still have options by shortening the term of your mortgage. Shortening the term of your mortgage can be done with little to no change in your monthly payment with the advantage of paying your mortgage off sooner.
For older homeowners, shortening your mortgage term offers the possibility of entering your golden years without having to make a monthly mortgage payment. If you are further away from retirement, you have an advantage to free up money for your children’s tuitions, travel, starting a business, or anything else life may have to offer.
As outlined above, lower rates and shorter terms will make better mortgages. Gulf Coast Bank & Trust offers several lending options with fast local decisions from experienced local lenders. You can check our website to find a lender at your local , or call us at 1-800-223-2060 today!
Who let the dogs out? Gulf Coast Bank & Trust started 2013 off with a howling success! We hosted our first annual Community Rewards fundraiser the entire month of February giving out $50,000 to 10 local charities. Surprisingly, the Looziana Basset Rescue Program led Community Rewards to first place winning $25,000. The proceeding 9 charities to win were Camp Restore, Truth in Nature, St. Rosalie, Youth Rebuilding New Orleans, Xavier Prep, Academy of Our Lady High School, Vietnamese Initiative in Economic Training, the 610 Stompers, and the New Orleans Medical Mission Services.
We would like to congratulate the top 10 charities and thank over 100,000 citizens for voting for their favorite charity. We look forward to your participation in 2014.
Furthermore, our next community event is approaching! On April 19th, various non-profits will participate in packing Zephyr’s stadium for a night of baseball. Gulf Coast Bank & Trust purchased over 20,000 tickets for various non-profits. The non-profits can then sell these tickets and fundraise for their charitable work. We hope to pack the park and look forward to seeing all the participants this year.
Following Pack the Park, Gulf Coast Bank & Trust will host “Auctions in August,” which is held the entire month of August each year. Non-profits and businesses are able to donate items to auction off either online or inside our branches; in turn, the proceeds will go directly to the non-profit of choice. Further information concerning this event will come at a later date.
