The smart way to research customer reviews before choosing a lender

A lot  of businesses make promises that are hard to measure. After all, how do you quantify things like “great service” or “personal attention”?

The mortgage business is oftentimes driven by referrals. When you do a good job for someone, they may refer you to their lender so you can have that same great experience.

But what if you don’t have a friend or real estate agent suggesting their favorite mortgage lender?

Our suggestion: look at customer reviews.

Customer reviews are meaningful & easy to understand. That’s why people are relying on the experiences of others before making purchase decisions.

The BEST Kind of Reviews

Customer reviews are an excellent source of feedback. The more information given by the reviewer, the better.

For instance, a review which says “great service, can’t wait to use again” is a nice pat on the back, but may not tell you much about the process.

However, a review like this gives you helpful, specific information:

Pro tip: Look for longer, more detailed reviews for insight into the customer experience.

Where to Find the Most Reviews

One of the challenges when it comes to customer reviews is searching through all the platforms where people can leave a review.

Here are just a few places where you can find reviews on mortgage lenders:

  • Google
  • Facebook
  • Zillow
  • Yelp
