Meet Marcia Leone, VP Of Mortgage Lending, In Our Metairie Office

Although Marcia has been with Gulf Coast Bank Home Loans for 13 years, it wasn't her childhood dream to become a mortgage loan officer.

Deep in her heart she always knew she wanted to help people, but how exactly was not clear to her as a child.

Marcia was born in and raised in Lakeshore, New Orleans and comes from a hard working family who owned and operated several convenience stores while she was growing up.

Marcia worked in the family business, but she knew the world was calling for her to do more.

A Matter Of Convenience

Marcia did not know it at the time, but this was the beginning of her career as a loan officer.

“I wanted to leave the family business I grew up in and go out into the real world. It was about her taking a step out in faith to begin a new adventure.”

The Dreamers and How It All Began

In 1985, Marcia’s first job after leaving home was as a receptionist and set up clerk at a mortgage lending office. That is where she learned the beginnings of how the loan process worked. She spent her days answering phones, getting verifications, ordering appraisals, and helping people by finding answers to questions they had. That is where her proactive skills began to flourish and her quest to help people was found.

It makes me happy to know that I have helped so many people make their dreams come true. The satisfaction of being their guide and building long lasting relationships was very fulfilling. Building those relationships with people is what interested me the most when I decided to choose this career path. -- Marcia Leone, VP of Mortgage Lending

The funny thing is when she started working there, she had no idea it would be her chosen career path for the next 35 years.

Climbing The Ladder Of Success

Marcia took some business courses in college that helped her prepare for the fundamentals of her career. Hands on training and trial and error were huge parts of my education and development in the loan industry.”

That education continues on a daily basis as she is always open to learning about new ways to be the best at what she does. She wants to provide her clients with the highest service possible. That one step ahead of the game attitude is part of what helped Marcia go from a receptionist to an amazing loan officer.

The most important thing she always remembered was to “know where to find correct answers to questions”, Marcia says.

Trust Leads To Gulf Coast Home Loans

After speaking with many friends, colleagues, and co-workers with whom she had deep trust in, Marcia decided to join Gulf Coast Home Loans 13 years ago.  “I was led there by people inviting me to join their team while telling me what a great place it is to work.” Says Marcia.

Although I found the entire process interesting, it was thrilling for me to see how exciting it was for the people going through the home loan process.

The same trust Marcia put into her team is the same trust her clients put in her now. This kind of trust is always a reminder of why she is there and how she was meant to help people.

“My mission is to continue to strive to provide my clients with  the best service. I am grateful for the clients that rely on me and trust in me, so earning and keeping that trust is very important to me. I want to always give great customer service with kindness and a smile. I am always willing to jump in and help.” Says, Marcia.

“Thirteen years ago I joined Gulf Coast Bank Home Loans. It was by far the best decision I ever made.” Marcia says

Although Marcia works long hours, she manages to find time to spend with her husband and her daughter. With 7 grandchildren, “there is always something going on,” Marcia says.

Marcia and her family have been season ticket holders with the New Orleans Saints for the past 53 years. If they can’t be there, they are watching it on television. They are also huge LSU fans and enjoy time away together.
